Your congregation is unique. Paying attention to many different aspects of church life isn’t always easy. There is always something that needs to be done. Whether it is deciding on what to preach about this week, finding someone to fill in at the food pantry, or addressing the issue of the sanctuary being too hot (74 degrees) last Sunday. There is always something.
Nevertheless, there is no other congregation like yours that shines so brightly. Whether your faith community has been around since 1859 or just started in a school in 2022, your congregation is the light of the world. Whether there are only 50 people in attendance or 1,500, you are the light of Indiana.
More thoughts.
There is nothing wrong with your congregation that cannot be solved by focusing on what’s right about it.
You are a faith community, not a business. Sure, you need offerings, but what you need more than anything else is the best and most beautiful expressions of your faith claims and commitments.
I love this one. According to a study of Philadelphia congregations, the average size congregation (about 70 in worship) contributes more than $300,000 in services to the local community. I think this is true for Indiana congregations too.
If your congregation’s attendance is going down, so what? I don’t mean to be flippant, but your congregation’s contribution will have a positive, long-lasting effect well beyond the future’s horizon. I know this, so trust me.
Attend Center for Congregations education events. This isn’t marketing. This is about you. You will learn, and your commitment to your congregation will be affirmed.
We are here for you. No other state has a Center for Congregations, but we do. Indiana is unique, and your congregation is one of a kind. We love walking alongside you to witness your bright light shining forth toward your future’s horizon.
